$125 Million Property Tax Assessment Dispute Resolved

Barclay Damon is often sought out to provide litigation services on complex, high-value litigated property tax disputes.  In this case, Barclay Damon was asked to act as co-counsel with the Arizona Attorney General’s office and defend the state Department of Revenue and several affected counties in a property tax challenge covering tax years 2008, 2009 and 2010. The total disputed full cash values between the parties for the years in question was in excess of $125 million dollars.  Barclay Damon acted as co-defense counsel through extensive discovery and a three week jury trial that resulted in a jury verdict upholding the state’s values and providing no relief to the plaintiff. As a result of its experience in these complex property tax cases, Barclay Damon’s attorneys are regularly sought out as trial counsel in these types of cases as well as speakers and presenters at a number of national property tax seminars and forums.
