Immigration Work Lets Canadian Business Owner Live His American Dream

A Canadian business owner wanted to sell his machine shop and start a new business redeveloping real estate in Southern Florida. Because his plan was to sell an operating business in Canada and create a new business in the United States, other attorneys told him it could not be done. He reached out to our attorneys for help making the move.

Our attorneys gathered the information and determined the machine shop owner could apply for an E-2 visa, a document that would allow him to move to the United States as an investor. The visa has a five-year, renewable term and would allow him to bring his wife and children.

Marshaling documents proving the man had the wherewithal to be an entrepreneur in America, our attorneys helped the man and his family navigate the process culminating in his receiving an E-2 visa at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto.

Today, the machine shop owner is living his dream, redeveloping real estate in Southern Florida while  his wife and children, who received derivative visas, are able to work and attend public schools there.
