Hospital Defeats Insurers’ Efforts to Renege on Payments
A major regional healthcare provider had contracts with health insurers to provide medical services to their insureds for fixed amounts for certain services. The insurers hired a third-party administrator to renege on the contracted amounts, a move that would have impacted the provider’s financial performance.
Our attorneys filed a lawsuit alleging breach of contract and tortious interference with a contract. With the matter pending, the defendants settled, scrapping their efforts to renege on the agreements and paying back significant amounts of the underpayments.
